On November 7 from 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM, meet, mingle, and support the local authors in your community at our tenth annual Author Fest! We’re a stop on the ArtWalk, with books available for sale and signing, plus a Friends of the Library book sale on the library’s lower level. Please note that library services (computers, printing, materials check-out) will not be available during this event. 

Fans of Fiction Author Fest is a unique multi author event on October 18th at Barnes & Noble Woodland Mall. There will be over 20 authors, a fictional character cosplay contest, raffles to win a hand Painted dragon pumpkin or a large book stack, and plenty of giveaways. There will be fiction authors from across the U.S who write the most popular genres like Fantasy, Romance, Romantasy, Mystery, Horror, Young adult, and Childrens. It's all the fun of a convention but inside of a store and for only 1 day. It's FREE to attend!

The Ohio Book Awards will be presented live at the historic Ohio Statehouse Atrium, with a reception that includes heavy hors d'oeuvres and complimentary drinks. The program will include interviews with each Award winner (featuring Special Guest Interviewers) followed by book signing. Books will be available for purchase at the event.

Ohio author, Mindy McGinnis, will discuss her novel "A Madness So Discreet" and the treatment of brain injuries and mental illness in the 1890s.

Author Mindy McGinnis shares the research behind her Edgar Award-Winning Gothic historical thriller, "A Madness So Discreet." McGinnis will discuss how doctors treated brain injuries in the 1890s and the different aspects of care for the mentally ill (for better or for worse) including the infamous psychosurgery known as a lobotomy. McGinnis will also delve into a brief history of the Athens [Ohio] Lunatic Asylum, the setting for the novel.

Meet Mindy McGinnis, award-winning author of many popular YA books including Heroine, Be Not Far From Me, and The Last Laugh. Mindy will talk about the inspiration and research for her latest book, Under this Red Rock, a murder mystery set in the cavern systems of Ohio that explores themes of mental illness, examining the often misunderstood behavior patterns of those who struggle. She will also discuss the importance of speaking out about mental health and share some of her own experiences with depression and anxiety as well as how they informed her process while working on this book. There will be time for Q&A, so bring any questions you have. Mindy will also have copies of her books available to sign and sell (cash, credit, and app accepted). The second Thursday of each month, except December, just two doors down from the library, at Bunker's Mill Winery, for a chat about all things books.  This is an unstructured group where you can share your favorite titles, get suggestions from others on what to read next, or even discuss books that you didn't like!

This new book club is for adults who love reading and want to connect with other adults who do too! This will be an open book club, meaning no assigned books to read! Simply read what you like and share with others so we all get exposed to new books, writing styles and genres! We will meet the second Wednesday of each month at the library. Light snacks will be provided.

As of now, no registration is necessary. Just show up with a book you are currently reading or recently finished and enjoy the comradery of other book lovers!
